Frances Izon began her musical adventures in New York City with a love for the Beatles and HerbieMann. Growing up in New York, she studied under Patricia Spencer (Da Capo Chamber Players)appreciating Schoenberg and Eric Dolphy. After relocating to California, she discovered a passion forLatin music, studying Latin patterns, montuno, Samba-Brazilian patterns, Reggae and other world beats.She has performed in several Latin funk bands at La Pena and Ashkenaz, Bay Area festivals, and has recorded and accompanied various Bay Area vocalists

Kevin Amos - Drums

Kevin Amos has always had rhythm in his bones. The origin story he likes to tell involves a grandparent’s gift of a sparkle-blue Micky Mouse drum set at the age of three. Abroad, Kevin has toured the country of Trinidad and Tobago and participated in multiple national Panorama competitions. In the states, he has had the luxury of playing with names such as Fred Wesley, Ted Piltzecker, Andy Narell, Liam Teague, and Victor Provost, amongst others.

Tony Contreras - Percussion & Vocals

I’m self taught conga player and backup singer. My journey in percussion started in 2008 which led me to join Grupo Conciencia, a Latin Folk Traditional music for several years. I joined Spill The Wine an R&B band for several years, also sitting in with Cacao Rock Band playing congas as a back up singer and also had a few songs as a lead singer. We played around the SF Bay Area at many different venues

David received his BA and credential from Cal State-East Bay and immensely enjoyed a career teaching instrumental music in the Berkeley, Orinda and Acalanes School Districts. With his love of Brazilian music he is very excited to be playing with Karamba and further exploring this genre as well as Latin Jazz.

Juan Richardson - Guitar

Uncle Funky plays funk, ska, R&B, heavy metal, blues & jazz fusion. He fronts his own blues/rock band the Real Unclefunky as well as playing with the Madd Vibe Orchestra lead by Angelo Moore of Fishbone, the Quart of Blood Technique, Carmen Jones and her Teena Marie tribute band, Punany poets, the underground Klown band Gooferman as well as R&B violinist Gareth Johnson. Juan also produces, writes, and is and audio engineer and sound design.
